'It would be great if Ireland and Northern Ireland were united'; Donald Trump's statement sparks outrage in Britain

लंदन। अमेरिकी राष्ट्रपति डोनाल्ड ट्रम्प के आयरलैंड और ब्रिटेन के उत्तरी आयरलैंड के एक होने संबंधी बयान पर ब्रिटेन में काफी विरोध देखने को मिला है।

ट्रम्प ने शनिवार को अपनी दो दिवसीय आयरलैंड यात्रा के दौरान कहा कि वह आयरलैंड और उत्तरी आयरलैंड को एक होते देखना पसंद करेंगे।

ब्रिटेन की कंजर्वेटिव पार्टी की नेता केमी बेडेनोच ने शनिवार को सोशल मीडिया प्लेटफॉर्म 'एक्स' पर प्रतिक्रिया देते हुए कहा, "राष्ट्रपति ट्रम्प हमेशा की तरह बिना ज्यादा सोचे-समझे बयान दे रहे हैं, जैसा कि उन्होंने पहले ग्रीनलैंड और कनाडा को अमेरिका का 51वां राज्य बनाने की बात कहकर किया था।"

On the same day, Reform UK party leader Nigel Farage also wrote on 'The Ex', "I don't agree with what President Trump said. Northern Ireland is a proud and integral part of the United Kingdom."

Former US Republican Party MP Mick Mulvaney, who was Trump's special envoy for Northern Ireland during his first term, advised people to avoid reading too much into Trump's comments.

He said, "This is not an indication of any change in US foreign policy."

UK Communities Secretary Angela Rayner also downplayed Trump's comments.

She told Sky News, "Donald Trump is Donald Trump. He says what he thinks is right." She added that the British government is serious about the Good Friday agreement and will continue to work on that path.

Trump concluded his Ireland trip on Sunday at his 'Dunbeg Golf Resort' in County Clare. There, he presented the Irish Open trophy to golfer Shane Lowry and also announced that he would remove tariffs on Irish whiskey.
